What started as an engrossing hobby has turned into a surprisingly satisfying business. Over the years, my handcrafted gifts to friends and family gained admirers who commissioned one-of-a-kind jewelry for themselves. Others asked for pieces to complement my gifts, so they could have matching sets.

Customers asked for more immediate access to my jewelry, instead of waiting for holiday visits and get-togethers. So, taking their cues, I started showing my jewelry at home parties and built this website. And now, through a strategic alliance with Esther Shih, my jewelry is also available at the Far East Living boutique in Palo Alto, California.

This venture is a dramatic change from high-tech, where I spent more than 14 years on a lightning-fast roller coaster ride. In contrast, jewelry design is a creative outlet that enables me to share beauty with others and meet many interesting people. As an added benefit, this business also enables me to support gifted artisans all over the world — I often incorporate work from other artists in my jewelry.
